Cryo Surgery

Cryosurgery is a technique using the application of extreme cold to an abnormal tissue area. This procedure is usually done on patients with chronic cervicitis, cervical erosion, chronic discharge or precancerous changes known as dysplasia The removal of cosmetic irregularities is becoming increasingly common as we all desire to be good looking and stay attractive as we age. Post-Operative Care:

Vaginal discharge is the most common complaint after therapy. Discharge begins soon after treatment and consists of a clear, watery fluid which will last approximately one to two weeks. Then a mucous discharge may vary with each patient from two to eight weeks. Bleeding problems are rare. However, some spotting particularly following sexual intercourse may be noted in a small number of patients.
Instructions to follow for two weeks after cryosurgery:

  • Use pads only to absorb discharge.
  • ƒ
  • DO NOT USE TAMPONS.
  • ƒ
  • DO NOT USE DOUCHES OR JELLIES.
  • ƒ
  • NO swimming or tub bath (you may shower).
  • ƒ
  • Intercourse should be avoided for two weeks.

  • You may resume your normal activities at the end of two weeks. You should follow up with your physician six weeks after treatment unless other instructions have been given to you.
